Elden's Last Day

We head down to the cove for some farewell beers, and Elden takes one last jetty jump, with style, into the ocean.  It's been a blast!  

Ho-Ho the Baby Noddy

The mine is sandblasting their cantilevers - the big cranes that overhang the ocean, used to load the phosphate ships - where many new Noddy parents are raising their young.  They decided to save some of the youngsters, and we're new adoptive parents of a bundle of fluff.  We take one home in a cardboard box with a pile of bait fish, and after a day or so of hand-feeding she's able to get the fish into her mouth herself.  Somehow the name "Horatio" became official, with "Ho-Ho" for short.  Watching her walk around on the webbed feet is a hoot, and she's soon waddling over to lay by our feet or play with our toes. 

Andersen's Dale

Arthur, Elden, and myself head out to Andersen's Dale, a small surface stream that empties into the ocean.  I had passed the stream several times which hiking, but had never ventured the extra 300m or so to where it meets the ocean. On the way back we climb over some fallen trees that cross the small gorge.  Very nice indeed.
